The first studyed an asteroid before it impacts with Earth / esmakordselt jälgiti

80-ton asteroid's impact recorded(with video):

"Scientists from Queen's University in Belfast have become the first to study an asteroid before it impacts with Earth."

Debris from an asteroid tracked as it fell to Earth has been recovered by scientists for the first time, says a report in the science journal Nature.

Asteroidin matka maahan tallennettiin ensi kerran kokonaan

2008 a. oktoobris Sudaani Nuubia kõrbesse kukkunud asteroidi jälgiti esmakorselt veel enne kukkumist. Allakukkunud asteroidi läbimõõt on 4 m ja kaal 80 tonni.
Asteroidi jälgimine sai teoks aga õnnelikule kokkusattumusele, et sama-aegselt märkasid teda Põhja -Iirimaa ja La Palma astronoomid.
